Legends of the Gridiron Showdown

Tournament Dates & Times:
You can sign up for the tournament through *Nov 11th.

*NOTE: We may cut off sign up at anytime AND we will sign up several more than needed. We will begin the tournament with the first people to join (e.g. 35 people sign up, first 32 to actually join the tournament will participate). So sign up if you are interested and monitor tournament thread and be ready to join the tournament at any time.

Flexible Schedule: players may play their games before the mandatory game time below. If your game has not been played, you must report to the tournament lobby or forfeit.

Round 1: Nov 15 - Nov 22 @ 1:00 EST
Round 2: Nov 23 - Nov 29 @ 1:00 EST
Round 3: Nov 30 - Dec 6 @ 1:00 EST
Round 4: Dec 7 - Dec 13 @ 1:00 EST
Round 5: Dec 14 - Dec 20 @ 1:00 EST

Tournament Prizes:
The winner of the tournament will receive a $100 Visa holiday gift card from 2kfootballstrategy.com. The Final Four participants will receive a 2K Sports T-shirt from 2Ksports. Winners will be required to provide a shipping address to claim prize.

Tournament Format:
The tournament is single elimination, 6 minute quarters on Legend difficulty with injuries turned off.

Eligibility:
The Tournament is open to residents of the 50 United States who are 13 years of age or older on or before November 15, 2008. Participants must have an approval rating of 80% or greater (unless a league sponsor can vouch for your sim gameplay). The Sponsor reserves the right to refuse entry to an player or to remove any participant from participation in the tournament for any reason and without notification.

How To Enter:
1) Post your XBox 360 GamerTag, current overall ranking (everyone knows this has no relation to your skill level, it is needed so we can quickly validate your feedback rating) and your approval rating.
2) Monitor thread and be ready to join tournament.

Game Rules: (based on what we can monitor)

General rules:

NO GOLD HALFBACKS: The tournament is pre-patch with no slider edits.
No John Elway as QB, due to his cadence ability which can be abused.
No created players (CAPs) - only existing Legends that are in the game.
No use of Cadence.
No offensive players substituted for defensive players.
No defensive players substituted for offensive players.
No quick snapping. Allow your opponent time to set defense and adjust if you move players or flip the play.
The hot corner route (using the outside WR) is banned in this tournament.

Section 1: Kick Offs

Article I. On-Side Kicks
Rule 1. On-Side Kicks are not allowed at all in the first half of play.
Rule 2. On-Side Kick can be done in the 3rd quarter if you are behind by 3 touchdowns (21 points or more).
Rule 3. On-Side Kick can be done any time in the 4th quarter if you are behind.

Article II. Kick Off Return Rules
Rule 1. No side kicking to exploit the run out of bounds or returner cannot catch ball bug.
Rule 2. All kick offs are to be down the middle or slightly to the left/right in such a manner that it does not violate Rule #1.
Rule 3. Kickoffs can be kicked short or intentionally out of bounds after an opponent has run a kick off back for a touch down.
Rule 4. At the end of the half, or game, if a player is up by a single possession then the player may kick it short to avoid the primary kick returner in order to avoid a KR that would intentionally tie up the game, or give their opponent the victory.

Article III. Kick Off Returners
1. Any type of player may be subbed in for the Kick Returner regardless of their position (QB, TE, LB, what have you) or their Star Rating (Gold, Silver, Bronze, or generic).

Section 2: Offense

Article I. 4th Down Play
Rule 1. A team may go for it on 4th down and inches at any time in the game, whether they are leading, tied, or trailing.
Rule 2. A team may go for it on 4th down and 1 yard if they are past the 50 and inside their opponents territory, at any time int he game, whether they are leading, tied, or trailing.
Rule 3. A team may go for it on 4th down and any number of yards from anywhere on the field if they are trailing in the 4th quarter by any amount.
Rule 4. A team may go for it on 4th down if it's the end of the 2nd quarter and time will expire on the last play.
Rule 5. A team may go for it on 4th down regardless of yards to go or location if it's under 2 minutes in the 4th quarter.
Rule 6. A team must punt the ball or kick a field goal if it is 4th down and Rules #1 through Rule #5 do not apply.

Article II. 2 Point Conversions
Rule 1. A team may go for a 2 point conversion if it will tie the game.
Rule 2. A team may go for a 2 point conversion if it is the 4th quarter and the 2 point conversion will give them a 3 or 7 point lead.
Rule 3. A team must kick the extra point unless Rule #1 or Rule #2 apply.

Article III. No-Huddle Offense
Rule 1. No huddle may be used after the 2 minute warning in the 2nd quarter and the 4th quarter.
Rule 2. A team may no huddle if they are behind by more than 21 points at any point in a game.
Rule 3. A team may no huddle if they are losing by any amount in the 4th quarter.
Rule 4. A team must huddle normally if Rule #1 through Rule #3 do not apply.

Article IV. Depth Chart Substitutions
Rule 1. No improper substitutions. No WR's lined up as TE or WR's lined up as HB.
Rule 2. HB and FB may be interchanged.
Rule 3. TE/HB/FB may be substituted as a WR in 4 WR and 5 WR sets.

Article V. Gadget Plays
Rule 1. All gadget plays are limited to a max of once per half. Plays like the flea flicker, HB option, TE or WR around the end, Double reverses, or Fake Reverses, Hail Marys, etc. That's one time per half, not one successful time per half.

Article VI. Gameplay
Rule 1. A man that is sent in motion may not be thrown to unless he is set before the ball is hiked on all passing plays.
Rule 2. A quarterback may scramble at any time.
Rule 3. A team may run or pass as much as they desire.
Rule 4. Bunny Hops (excessive use of Hops) may not be used.

Article VII. Clock Management
Rule 1. Play Clock can not be run down in order to run out the Game Clock for a given Quarter until after the 2 minute warning in the 2nd and 4th Quarter.
Rule 2. If an opponent tries for an onside kick in the 4th Quarter, then all bets are off and a player may run down the Play Clock as they wish until the end of the game.

Section 3: Defense

Article I. Depth Chart Substitutions
Rule 1. No improper substitutions. No CB's as LB, DE's as LB, or other invalid substitutions.
Rule 2. FS and SS may be interchanged.
Rule 3. OLB and ILB's may be interchanged.

Article II. Gameplay
Rule 1. Defensive Linemen may not be manually repositioned prior to the snap. They may only be moved via the pre-set shifts provided by the game.
Rule 2. Linebackers may be repositioned, but not at the line if they repositioned wide. If a LB is moved wide, then the LB must stay back from the line a minimum of 5 yards.
Rule 3. No manual Punt blocks are allowed.
Rule 4. No manual Field Goal or Extra Point blocks are allowed.

Violation of any rule above will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament.

For you new guys checking out the site/tournament. League play is the way to go to enjoy this game. If interested... here is a repost from NFLHITMAN:

Here are a few for you to think about.

NFLP ran by FLAxWLESS - This is a progression league that is just like having a franchise mode. Players are graded on there season and if they don't make the bench mark to be in a certain tier than they lose that tier. Example.... If you have the Jaguars and you make Fred Taylor a Gold RB than he has to hit the stats set fourth for a Gold RB or be dropped down to a silver. There are trades, Rookie drafts, FA pickups. Very complex but very much like the franchise mode this game doesn't have.

NFL 2K8 ran by amid/tjspeaks - This league is the most lenient on player tiers but is very strict on playing all 16 games of your season. You pick any NFL team that is available and you can use anyone on that team anywhere you would want them to be. If you want to make a backup QB on that team your Gold QB than you can. Gold players are limited to 3 attributes only even if you have unlocked the 5 attribute golds.

CFL ran by Brownster14 - This is a College football league with all the trimmings. Preseason polls, Heisman Award along with all other awards, Post season rankings to determine who gets into the Bowl games. This is your college football game in a pro game. Very fun league.

Dynasty Legends ran by NFLHITMAN - This is a draft league with the legends the game came with along with the legends they didn't come with using my CAP list. You will get a an email letting you know what spot you landed in the draft. the draft is serpentine draft order where the 1st guy in a round would be last in the next round. You can draft a Lawrence Taylor, Jim Brown or the players this game came with. We are currently in season 9 with season 10 coming soon. All the legends in my CAP list all have predetermined attributes listed for them along with there height, weight, college, B-Day. If you draft a Lawrence Taylor than you would have to make him the height, weight, and attributes that was listed for him in my CAP list.

America's Game ran by NFLHITMAN - This league is based solely on any team that has made it to the Superbowl. They didn't have to win but they had to play in the Big Game. This is where you will see the 1965 Green Bay Packers play the 1995 Dallas Cowboys. You use the legends that came with the game than you create the rest of the pl,ayers you need to complete the Superbowl team you are using. Inspired by NFL Network's on going show Americas Game.

All the league are Simulation leagues with strict rules for SIM play. If your someone who will use every trick in the book to win than these leagues won't work for you. If your someone who wants a NFL type of feel than these leagues are for you. Here are the links to those threads to each league along with my league rules and CAP list for you to look at.

Are those teams both Oklahoma high schools (Muldrow vs. Muskogee)? I like how both teams wear the exact color uniform. That's why they fought the Civil War out east.
